ARDOS Publisher
The Challenge
Technical documentation is faced with several conflicting demands: On the one hand, they must correspond to the corporate identity (CI) of the company, as is the case with marketing or sales materials. On the other hand, there are clear legal requirements and specifications that shape the layout and content.
In addition, short-term amendments pose a challenge, as they can destabilize the layout or invalidate indices and overview lists.
Modern specifications such as XML or SGML therefore separate layout and content, which meets the requirements. However, this separation often leads to further problems: Unreadable XML/SGML files must first be converted into print-ready formats such as PDF – a task that requires flexibility and intelligence.
Our solution:
Der ARDOS Publisher
With ARDOS Publisher, we offer an efficient and flexible platform that masters all these challenges. The solution is based on a clear separation of layout and content whilst complying with current aviation standards such as SGML in accordance with iSpec 2200 or XML in accordance with ASD S1000D. At the same time, we dispense with layout-based approaches and use standardized transformation processes (XSLT, XSL-FO) to create a readable and print-ready PDF manual.
