Challenges in Technical Documentation

The creation of technical documentation for aviation requires the integration and management of a variety of data sources. In addition to written and pictorial information, this includes a wealth of spare parts data that must be provided by aircraft manufacturers and their suppliers – for example in areas such as cargo loading systems, air conditioning systems or engines.

The focus here is not only on the availability and consistency of the data, but also on its reusability over many years. The use of modern technologies such as SGML/XML poses additional challenges. Only through coordinated processes and optimized software solutions will this data be sustainably organized and usable.
